Scan a code, filter the horde, send the page
0.0.17 was the first hour with a new account: setup, box crops, page fades, and cancel on a long export. 0.0.18 is how you find a thing, name it, and hand the page to the bench.
Scan a barcode
On a software title, a book, a part, and in Find and the shelf picker, point the camera at a UPC or ISBN.
- A code already in the shared catalog offers to create the item with that name filled in.
- A code that is not in this horde yet offers Create new from this UPC, or ISBN when the code is an ISBN.
- A name is not a barcode. Typing
WebMonkey-20260927does not offer a UPC row just because the name contains a date.upc:andisbn:still do, and so does a plain digit string.
The horde list
Column headers on The horde sort. Name, manufacturer, category, status, and condition also filter: include or exclude. The column picker is the icon at the left of the header row.
Acquire price and Estimated price stay on one line. A long horde name in the sidebar ellipsizes, and hovering it shows the full name.
Send this page to another device
The broadcast button in the header sends the page you are on to another phone, tablet, or computer signed in to the same account. Pick the device. It opens there.
Machines, parts, and the add form
- Nickname is optional. Leave it blank and the title is the manufacturer and model.
- Parts have photos, the same way machines do.
- Worklogs open in the same add and edit window as the rest of the catalog.
- Photos sit at the top of the machine form. Editing a machine shows the photos it already has.
- Saving shows a moving bar. After you save an edit, Back does not drop you back into the form.
- On a phone, the form does not steal focus when it opens.
- If you opened Add to the parts bin, Add a title for software, or Add a title for a book by its address and then close it, you land on that list. A
redirecton the link still wins. Opening the form from a list just closes it. - A long machine name stays off the status pill. A parts quality pill stays inside the card on a phone.
Files
An item holds up to 40 linked files. On a machine or a part, those links and the QR shortlink are on their own tabs. Worklogs are the first section on a machine.
Who can do what
Horde members open one permission tree.
- Manage covers add, edit, and delete. Delete includes the photos that go with the row.
- Photo grants sit inside Manage.
- Installing a part is part of managing parts. Putting something on a machine is part of managing machines.
- A group with only one choice has no All box.
- Racks are listed above bins.
- A coarser grant says what it already includes, so you are not ticking the same thing twice.
Floor plan
New tables, bins, and racks are named T1, B1, and R1. Deleting one fills that number back in next time.
- Resizing shows the live size.
- Zoom and add sit off the canvas.
- The N badge is a north-up compass.
- Resize handles are a three-line grip.
- The “Position saved” line is gone.
- Adding photos from the library lets you pick several.
Accounts
- A free account can own 5 hordes. Owning a paid horde raises that to 20.
- Deleting your account does not take a shared horde with it. If other people are still members, one of them becomes the owner, and inventory you created stays.
- One sign-in is primary: a password, Google, or Apple. A password account still keeps a second factor. Google or Apple can stand on its own.
- Changing a password, turning an authenticator on or off, adding or removing a passkey, linking or unlinking Google or Apple, billing, and horde control ask you to confirm again.
- A passkey asks the device to verify it is you.
- You can run one export at a time, across every horde you belong to. Another horde waits until that zip finishes. The 30-day wait after a successful export is unchanged.
- A public horde still shows machine and worklog photos to anyone with the link. Other photos stay for members.
- Uploaded photos have location data removed before they are stored.
